Lake nakuru national park is home to one of Kenya’s most famous lakes; the lake Nakuru.

Covering an area of about 30 kilometers, the lake has been made famous for its myriad of bird species, the most popular being the flamingoes. The flamingoes concentrate the lake in their thousands (sometimes reaching millions) feeding on the abundant algae found in the lake.

With over 400 species of birds, Nakuru is definitely a bird watching paradise.

An addition to the lake is the rhino conservatory that is home to over 20 black rhinos.

A trip from the capital, Nairobi, takes you o a 160 kilometer journey. Visitors can take the time to enjoy the beautiful scenery. For instance, the great rift valley. This is the largest rift on the earth’s surface, stretching to over 4000 miles long and covering a distance of over 30 miles wide.

The Great Rift Valley was as a result of the depression of the earth’s surface. Visitors can marvel at the walls of the valley, (called escarpments), with the largest being the "Man escarpment" that stands at a height of 8500 feet.
